Volume One Chapter Eight A Planet Without Weather
An Unquestioning Girl
Lasta woke up. She was unchained. She ate a soup that had grey liquid and orange chunks in it. It tasted like mushrooms and plastic. She followed Salynara to the kitchen, where she cooked a full English breakfast for her and Otb. She stayed there, refilling their cups when she was told. Then cleaned once they were done. She cleaned the castle and did the laundry. She did all what Salynara told her to without question.
She was about to walk back to her cell until Otb grabbed her by the wrist.
“Tell me, what did she do to you?”
She frowned.
Did I do something wrong? Did I do something wrong again? What? What did I do wrong? Did I lie again? I dunno. I dunno anything. Was all of it really real? Are everyone in those memories of mine real? Are the places real? Is anything about me real?
He drove his fist into her gut.
“I told you. What happened to you, Lasta?”
“I-I.”
He let out a groan as he hit his face and shook his head.
“Come off it! What happened to you? What happened to your fire? Where’s that girl that stopped me so many times?”
She frowned and her face was filled with guilt. Guilt about telling him lies too. Making him think that he was beaten by her as nothing more than a little child.
“I’m sorry, Master Otb. I was never that girl.”
“Then who are you?”
“A liar.”
“And who told you that?”
The frown deepened.
She was about to answer when Salynara approached the two.
“Girl, get off the floor.”
She did.
“Now come with me.”
“What have you been doing to that girl Salynara?” He snapped, pointing to Lasta.
“That’s none of your business.” She said with a sly smile.
They walked away.
“Mind telling me what that was all about?” She asked with an ice cold tone to her voice.
“I don’t know.” She said and went on to tell her what happened.
She smiled and nodded.
“Well he is just as much your master as I am. So do try to keep that in mind.”
She nodded.
“Yes mistress.”
“Good, and come.”
She followed her to the cell. There was a man in it. His face was covered and his hands were bound.
“Tell me, the orb of Weather?”
“Not telling.”
“Oh how adorable! You think that you will not break.” She laughed.
“There will be nothing that will make me talk. I have no parents, no siblings, no children or friends. You have nothing that will make me break!”
“Oh?” She said mockingly as she turned to Lasta. “Not even if I gave her a turn?”
He looked down to see none other than Lasta Coop and his eyes widened.
“A child? How dare you harm a child like that!”
She chuckled chillingly.
“Oh no, my dear Weather Priest. I will not lay a finger on her.” She said, giving her the knife.
“Cut there.” She said, pointing to a section of the head.
She, without question, did. She let out a scream as the pain shocked her. She did not like it. She felt tears in her eyes. However she did not ask why she felt this unpleasantness. After all, she was a liar and a bad girl, so she deserved this.
“What did you do to that poor child?”
“Now cut him in the arm.”
She walked up to him and cut. He let out a grunt.
“Now tell me, where is it?”
He kept his mouth shut.
“Drink the blood, girl.”
She pressed her lips to the wound and started drinking.
“What? Get-”
“You will only speak when I want you to speak.”
Lasta nodded as she felt her throat gulp down more and more, tasting iron in her mouth.
“Fine! It’s on a planet without weather.”
“So they were right! Good, you can stop drinking now.”
Lasta pulled away.
“Now clean that all up.”
She did.
“And your face.”
She did.
“Come along!”
“Wait, are you just going to leave me here?”
Salynara laughed.
“Of course! After all, if you have lied to me, then I will make the girl drink more of your blood. If you have told the truth then I will let you go. If the girl hasn’t brunk you dry.”
“You will make Lasta drink his blood! Why?”
“It’s part of the Weather Priest’s religion. After all, it is written in the book of Weather, if they drink another, then they are cursed by the Orb Of Weather and can only be freed by the weather itself!”
“Hold on, did you say that they worship the weather?”
“They do.”
Otb looked at Lasta.
“Tell me, do you have to do all that she tells you to?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because she is my mistress.”
“So if she told you to jump off the side of a cliff, would you do it?”
“Yes.”
His eyes widened in shock.
“Are you serious?”
“Yes.”
He looked at Salynara.
“What did you do to that girl?”
She smiled.
“I showed her the reason why she should obey me…and you.”
“So if I told her to jump over the side of a cliff, she would?”
That was when she walked to the nearest window and reached out her hand only to be pulled back.
“Why did you do that?”
“You told me to.”
“No I didn’t! I was only making an example. You really should learn what the difference is.”
She nodded.
“I will try.”
“No, do it. Don’t try to do it.”
She nodded as her mind conjured up the image of a small green goblin-like creature. She did not know why or if it was conjured up by all of those lies that she told or something else…
Setting Off
The following day Lasta woke up and did all her work. She finished by lunch, where she was greeted by Salynara.
“Come with me.” She said as they walked to the kitchen.
“We need nine meals prepared.” She said and she went into watching the girl closely as she made nine sandwiches.
“How are you feeling today?” She asked.
“Same, Mistress Salynara.”
“No difference?”
“Nothing that I know of, Mistress Salynara.”
She nodded as the girl put the ham sandwiches on a tray. Salynara took out a box.
“Put them in this.”
She did.
“Put them in that bag.”
She put them in a large backpack the size of her shoulder to the back of her knees. Then she followed her to her room.
“Pack those clothes.” She said as she pointed to a set of dresses on the bed.
She carefully folded each one exactly in the way Salynara trained her to. Then she put them in the bag.
“Right. Now to Otb's room.”
They walked to his room. It was all black, including the queen sized bed sheets.
“Have you packed?”
“Yes.”
“Good. Now give them to the girl.”
He gave her a simple suitcase. Then he looked at the backpack in the back.
“Is she going to carry all that?”
“Yes.”
“Look would that include-”
“Yes.”
“And is she going in that?”
"Yes.”
“And no coat.”
“She’ll need a coat.”
“No, she does not.”
“Yes, she will. If we’re going to the planet that I think that we’re going to.” He said as he took one out of his wardrobe and threw it at her.
“You can have one of mine.”
She looked down at the black cotton trench coat. It had a blue zip and green buckles. She loved it. Her eyes lit up as they widened. Then she looked at Salynara who shrugged.
“Thank you Master Otb!” She exclaimed.
Otb cringed.
“Seriously! What did that woman do to you! Just call me Otb like you always have!”
She nodded.
“Thank you Otb.”
She put it on.
“"ake the bags off first, then put it on. Then put your bags on.”
She did. She zipped up the zip and buttoned it up. She put the bags back on and followed Salynara. They all left the castle and soon walked on the stoney pathway. They travelled for a day and were about to set up camp when Lasta was hit.
She spun and flew to the other two.
“’Ello Sal’! ’Aw’ve ye bin?!” Snarled a large creature that was the size of a room. It had large eyes and mouldy and wrinkly skin with twin tusks that came up from the lower jaw.
“Trag! Still smelling like a pile of faeces I take it!” She replied with an irritated sigh.
“Oi! I love tha’ smell! All trolls and gobbers do!”
“Gobbers?”
“Goblins.”
“Yeah! ’N’ I ’eard ya gone ’n’ done in the Silly Cour’ ’'n’ it’s king ’n’ queen!”
“All true.”
“An’ ’oo’s tha’?” She boomed, pointing at Lasta. “She’s one ’o yours? She’s really pre’y! ’Oo ever ya give ’er to’ll break a lo’ o’ ’earts I reckon!”
Lasta frowned.
What does he mean by that?
“No! I intend to keep a firm grip on this girl. She’s one of Fate’s Chosen.”
“One o’ Fa’s Chosen? By the dead gods o’ old! We’re no’ in one o’ those Age o’ Legends are we? This must’ve bin the seventh!" 0”
“Eighth.”
“Well in tha’ case I’ll ’ave ‘er!”
“She is not for sale.”
“Did I give ya a choice?”
Salynara raised her eyebrow.
“Are you certain that you wish to commit to this act?”
“Yeah! I’m gonna be known if I ’ave ’er!”
She outstretched her hand and closed her eyes. Suddenly Trag was thrust back and hit a rocky face with a thud. He looked at her as she curled her fingers and clicked. Then the rock behind flicked out of his ribcage and he hung there, limp.
Lasta looked at the display, who now was swirling with questions, returned to setting up the tents as Salynara and Otb sat.
“Tell me, are you wanting to know what that was all about?” She asked.
“I do but, I’m sorry if I’m wrong, if it’s really important you would tell me.”
“Yes. I would. Now that you have finished with the tents, take out the box.”
She did. Salynara took out a sandwich and gave it to Otb and took one for herself.
“Sit down.” Otb said.
She nodded and sat.
“Well is she not getting one?”
“No.”
“What is she eating?”
“Nothing.”
Otb let out a huff.
“She is a kid! And the one that is carrying all our stuff. She needs to eat more than any of us, both!”
“She is only two years younger than you. And she is our slave, not our child.”
“But even a slave is better treated than that!” He snapped as he broke his sandwich and gave half to her.
“Here, as she’s being unreasonable.”
Lasta took a glance to Salynara. She shrugged. She took the half.
“Thank you.” She said, as she could have sworn that she saw Salynara smirk.
She loved the taste as the soft bread melted in her mouth. The cheese and the chicken rested upon her tongue and gave her a mixture of tastes. She took bite after grateful bite until she finished and they all went to sleep.
Lasta woke up early from a nightmare before she got up and stretched. Once she was done she was greeted by Salynara. She placed a hand on her and clutched her jaw in her fingers. She frowned as she looked at her.
“Look at me, in the eyes.”
She looked at her in her eyes. Soon she felt her head start to ache. Then the aching increased as she felt the fairy witch peer into her very soul. She felt her heartbeat increase as her breathing became faster and faster. She could feel her head start to pound as her body was completely locked in place. Soon she felt foam falling from her mouth. Her eyes rolled up as all went black.
She woke up sweating. She looked at her in shock.
What did she do?
“What I wanted to do. Now wake Otb. We need to get to the place before noon.”
She nodded before she did what she was told. Soon they were in front of the mirror.
Wait, this place is real?
“Come, we need to get to the ship before sundown.”
She nodded. Salynara took her hand and they all walked in.
Entering The Planet
They were soon on the other side and on another planet. It was the planet where they had left the ship. They were in a forest with fleshy green trees with fleshy purple leaves the size of a large house. With maroon flowers in the purple leaves. The plant life were windy vines like thick and thorny spaghetti.
They walked on and spotted a section of the plant life that was covering something. Salynara took out her wand and waved it to the left and then to the right. She then put it away and clicked her fingers. Soon the plant life flicked away like it was fleeing something. This revealed the ship.
Lasta looked at it and marvelled.
So that exists too? Wow!
“What are you gawking at girl?”
She snapped out of it.
“The shop is really big and pretty.”
She smirked.
“Come on. We need to get there as fast as we can.”
She nodded and they all scrambled into the ship. Otb ran to the control panel and started everything up. He then looked back at Lasta and helped take off her luggage. He whipped everything up into the luggage slot. They all ran to their chairs and fastened their harnesses. He then returned to the control panel and the ship lifted up. Soon it shot out in the sky and reached the upper atmosphere before breaking out into the vacuum of space.
They then stopped as Otb looked around.
“What is it boy?”
“We have company.”
“We are the Intergalactic Crime Punishment Squad! We have a report that this ship is stolen and is currently being piloted by the escaped convict Otb, surrender now!”
“Looks like we’re in for a fight, Saly!”
“Salynara.”
He rolled his eyes.
“Whatever! Shield is from their blasts.”
“And what will the girl be doing?” She asked slyly.
“Rest! She’s been carrying all that on her for the past two and a half days. Keep treating her like that and she’ll die of exhaustion!”
“And what’s wrong with that? Don’t you want her dead too?”
“Not like that! I wanna kill her at her best!”
“Oh you want-”
“Watch out!” Lasta cried.
They looked back. Otb saw in and pressed a button. He pressed a switch that reminded her of a stick of a game controller. Then two lasers hit. Boom! An explosion of debris spread in front of them.
Otb moved the ship down until he saw the other ship's underbelly. Then he fired. He sent several more out before they figured out where the lasers were coming from. Then one spotted them, which Lasta saw.
“Master Otb, to your left!”
“‘Otb’!” He shouted as he spotted the ship and fired at them.
Lasta scanned the window and saw another in the distance.
“To your right.”
He saw and fired. This gave them an opening and they sped through it and Lasta looked down at the panel. She saw the red dot and three blue dots behind them.
“Those blue dots! There are three behind us!”
He looked down and spun the ship around. He shot at each and everyone of them before spinning back. Lasta looked back at the panel for any more blue dots but saw none.
They came to a burnt orange and lilac planet. She spotted that the ground was littered with pyramids.
They soon landed.
“Is it safe out there?”
“Yes. The planet is in a ring of oxygen.”
She nodded and soon they left and Lasta took their things before she left.
The Weatherless
Lasta looked around at the purple rocks and the golden pyramids beyond them. She looked at the colourful sky. There were so many stars, scattered in the sky like glitter of all colours. Pink, purple and green dust clouds were swirling in the far distance. She could see all of the planets, moons, asteroids and rocks that looked like chalk dust.
“That’s beautiful!” She exclaimed.
Otb placed a hand upon her head.
“Come, we’re not here for sightseeing. So don’t slow us down.”
She nodded as she followed them. They travelled up the rocky hill. The first thing that she saw was the crystal obelisk in the far distance that towered above the land. It was as wide and as tall as a skyscraper with a white light at the top.
She was about to take a moment to appreciate the beauty when she remembered Salynara. So she quickly looked for her and once she found her she followed her. They walked on and on. She travelled after them, following every step.
“Girl?”
“Yes Mistress?”
“Just checking to see if you were still there!”
She nodded.
Then she looked to the left and spotted something moving. She looked at it and saw a rock fall. Then she ran on.
“Do you think-”
That was when a rock hit her. She hit the ground. As she looked up she saw another rock hit her.
“Aw!”
“Girl, get up!”
She did and went to them. She was hit by another rock. She saw the other two walking further and further away. Then they were hit too. Then more and more rocks hit them again and again then it all went black.
When they woke up they noticed that they were not wearing their clothes. They were all in identical grey tracksuits with a bright orange streak going from the side of each side of the trouser legs and sleeves. She looked up only to find herself surrounded by large milk white creatures with tiny eyes that were like black beads that looked almost faceless with only a single crack of a mouth. They had two arms like an octopus without any suckers with knee-less legs. Their feet were made up of three suckers.
Suddenly Lasta felt warm and comfortable. She looked around to see that she had a blanket on. She could feel that she was on a thin bed with a thin mattress and pillow.
She was brought a bowl of brown soup. In it was blue chunks. She picked up a green spoon next to her soup.
“Here, eat.”
“Thank you sir!” She exclaimed as she took it.
“Wouldn’t thank me if I were you.” Said a creature.
She looked up to see a creature with a silver shirt and trousers. It has slender arms and legs. He had wide light green eyes with scarlet pupils. Its skin was pale white with green vanes.
Her mouth dropped open. She looked down to see the warm food in her hand and started to eat. The soop reminded her of stew with the cubes tasting like carrots, just sweeter. The purple meat tasted like a cross between lamb and beacon. She ate it slowly, taking in every single moment. It had been a long time since she had tasted something so lovely. Yet, once she was finished, she was taken where she was joined by Salynara and Otb.
“Come.”
They were led to the largest pyramid. Inside she saw another alien.
“Good morning all.” Said the one that they were looking at.
“Good morning.”
Wait, it’s morning?
“Today, the Court Of The Weatherless have come together to debate the criminals in front of us.”
“What did we do?”
“Silence boy!”
Then it turned to the rest.
“We have, as you can see, three individuals from another planet, which is a crime to come here if you’re not from this planet. Which is punishable by death.”
“What can we do? All exactions today are all booked up and we do not have time for another.”
He nodded.
“Then they shall be executed in the morning on the morrow.” He declared and the rest of the Weatherless clapped. “For now, they will be in the jail cell with the others."
With the sound of another clap they were led away. Lasta noticed that there was a cover over Salynara’s head.
The Prophecy
They were thrown into a large and wide prison cell. Lasta saw that there were other Weatherless in the cell with them. They all looked up at them with wide eyes and their jaws dropped. They sat down but Lasta remained standing.
“Wait, what are they?” Asked one.
“I don’t know!”
“Hold on? Are-are they? Xould they?”
“Seems like it!”
“Is that a girl?”
“Yes, yes it is Xigcor.”
“How old is she?”
“Don’t ask. She’s far too young.”
“Oh! Oh well!”
That was when the two fought.
“What are they talking about? Why are we here? Why are we even being sentenced to death anyway?” Salynara snapped.
“The prophecy spoken by a hooded creep that disappeared shortly after. Some say!” Sang a Weatherless as he swung his arms around like a Hawaiian wave.
“Great, now we have to deal with a crazy person.”
He shot up close to them as he came up close to her. He smiled.
“Do you want to hear it? Do you? Do you want to hear it? Do you? Do you? Hey, do you?”
“Just tell us the prophecy. You don’t need the rest.” Otb said, deadpan.
He looked down and moaned like a child.
“Beware the one that comes from other airs,
Though she is selfish, this one still cares,
By Weatherless King’s death,
Brings Weather’s first breath!”
“Speaking of which, what is weather? Is it a type of food? Or is it some unlimited tryp of energy? Do you know what it is please, the answers are making me excited! I want to know!”
“Is that it?” Snapped Salynara. “Is that why we are going to be executed?”
“Yes. He took it very seriously. All who knew or spoke the prophecy he sentenced to death.”
“Why? I thought that areas of this universe were too advanced to believe in silly things like prophecy!”
“Yes, well, this hooded creep of a man has been able to make accurate prophecies. Also he has magic of old. But, the thing is, when the king tried to locate him, he seemed to disappear without a trace. Some say that he’s still here. Others say that, after he spoke the prophecy, he ran from this planet as fast as he could! He also wore a pink robe.”
Salynara raised her eyebrow as her eyes slid to Lasta.
“He sounds like an old man with a long and good education in magic.”
“Actually his voice sounded quite young and youthful! Almost like a young man in his twenties. It was also creepy sounding like it was stroking my ears but put all my senses in a panic! A weird panic! Almost like excitement and fear! Have you ever felt like that?”
She nodded.
“Well, with all of that said, I would love to stay and chat, however, we have work to do. So, know a way out of this place?”
“Can’t you use your magic?”
“No. They put this strange crown on me which cut off my magic from me.”
Otb nodded as Lasta looked at it. She looked to the side and saw a cup of water in the mad Weatherless’s hand. She dived to him and took it. Suddenly an idea came to jwr mind. One that, yes, had its foundations in her false memories, however it was the only idea she had. She dipped her fingers in it and spread it across the fairy witch’s forehead. Salynara slapped the back of her hand.
“What are you doing, girl?”
“Getting that crown off you. After all, if I can put water on you then it'll make your skin slippery!”
She frowned as she continued. Soon her water covered her forehead. She then worked on the crown and moved it slowly and carefully. Moving it up, swaying it from left to right. Soon it was off!
“Done!” She said, displaying it.
Salynara looked down at it and then back at her with widened eyes. She smirked, feeling stunned as she wiped the water away.
“You clever girl!” She exclaimed.
Lasta looked away, suddenly feeling shy and uncomfortable.
“Right, time to get out of here.”
She turned to the bars and they soon were blown away. She then saw a guard coming their way. She raised her hand and then snakes dived out of her palm. The next moment their fangs dug into his neck. He never got the chance to scream out. She ran ahead. Otb collected the guns as he ran on. He spotted a Weatherless coming to them. He shot at him. He saw another and shot him. While Salynara whacked one with the head of a staff and shot fire at him.
Lasta dived at a gun, just in case they needed it later as one charged at her. She then, instinctively, fired at him. To her utter shock, she hit him in the heart! Her jaw dropped as she felt her hands and body shaking. She breathed in and out as she felt tears start to fall.
“What is wrong, child?”
“I-I-I k-k-killed hi-hi-him!”
He put an arm on her.
“It’s alright. That was self defence. It’s alright if it’s self defence!” The Weatherless said.
She looked down, still unsure.
“R-really?”
“Yes. Now come on!”
She nodded as she ran off after the other two. Soon they ran out and left the prison behind.
The Tower
They ran and ran. Lasta tried her best to keep up but her legs just could not move fast enough. She knew that if she did not find a way to keep up then they would be forced to stop. This would let Salynara and Otb down, or worse, lead then to their deaths!
That was when she felt a hand yank her up. She looked to her right to see the Weatherless that she had just set free. She then noticed that they were all running towards the crystal obelisk.
That was when a Weatherless came out of nowhere and Otb shot at him. That was when Lasta noticed the pile of rocks. Lasta pulled out one of the guns and fired at the rocks. Smashing them long before they could hit them. She looked and spotted one coming to the right. She shot. Her eyes look around, forwards, side, side back. She shot that one. She spotted that there was one near Otb's head and shot it.
“Good shot.”
“Thank you!”
They looked to the right as Salynara killed three Weatherless with a bolt of light that burnt through their heads. Then she spotted a rock coming towards her. Which, she stopped. She shot it in the centre but it was driven back. She shot another and it was soon driven back further and further. Then it suddenly dived at her and landed a kick.
She looked back as she saw another rock coming at her. She shot it. She shrugged and she smiled as they reached the obelisk.
The Weatherless put her down.
“Will you be alright?"
“Should be." She replied as she looked at it.
She then ran to Otb and Salynara.
“Are you alright?”
Salynara chuckled.
“Look at you being concerned!” She said mockingly. “You learning your lesson?”
“Yes."
“Are you sure? I mean you did let that Weatherless carry you while we were running.”
“I’m sorry Mistress Salynara. I was just too slow and he picked me up!” She had to admit.
She slapped her.
“Do not ever get help ever again or I will put you through more nightmares!”
Lasta dropped her arms and nodded. She felt a lump in her throat and swallowed. She could feel the tears coming but she felt that if she would show them then it would draw attention to her.
“For that you will have no gun!” She snapped, taking them both off her.
How can I defend myself?
She looked down.
“How’s she supposed to-”
“If you are so concerned with her you defend her!”
His lip curled as he looked down at the girl.
They opened the door and there were thirty Weatherless on the other end. Salynara pulled out a long and silver dagger and raced in as she threw out a blast of fire from her hand. She ran on and stabbed one after the other. Then once the coast was clear she sent a stream of smoke from her palm. Then as each of them breathed in the smoke, they coughed and coughed. Soon blood came out of their mouth and they soon fell. She ran on and stabbed one after the other as they coughed up their blood before they could even think.
That was when a group of Weatherless ran up to Lasta. Otb shot one after the other. Then she felt herself being yanked back. She screamed and turned around. She punched the Weatherless in the place where the nose would have been. He let go and as she fell she punched his chin. She punched again and again and again as she fell lower and lower.
She was grabbed back again. She went in and went for a punch but her fist was caught. She knew that she could be killed by him. She thrust her foot into his throat. She then punched him with her free hand again and again as fast as she could as she fell. Then a blast hit his head.
She looked back to see that the Weatherless were all dead.
“Come on. There’ll be more upstairs."
They nodded as they ran up the wide stairs. They ran on and on. She tripped and quickly got up before Salynara could notice and ran on. She finally came to the first floor.
There Salynara let out a cloud of black smoke. She spotted the lasers pointing at them. Then Lasta heard the coughing and a Weatherless charged at them. Otb shot a beam at him. Then another, he too, almost arrived at the group before he fell. This was followed by two more and Otb hit both of them. They heard more and more of the Weatherless falling. One after the other. Once the cloud was clear, they were all dead.
“You were saying?” Otb said, sarcastically.
“For that you will be the one that will be taking out the next floor.”
“Fine!”
They then ran up the stairs. When they reached the next floor, he counted ten Weatherless around a table, playing with a set of dice and cards. He, before they had the chance to notice them, fired at each and everyone.
“Next one!”
Salynara looked at Lasta and smirked. She looked away as she felt a pounding in her head as she heard the sound of her own heart in her ears. She could feel herself shaking as she felt the tears in her eyes.
“No. She’s not armed!”
“I’ll do the next one.
“Fine! But for that she will do the top one!”
Lasta nodded as she felt something dying inside of her as her heart grew cold.
They ran on and on. They came to a high and wide room where people were eating. Otb openfired as fast and as accurate as she could. He knew that he did not want any of them to have time to move, let alone think!
Once he was done they ran on and on. Lasta could feel her thighs and calves were aching. She knew that if she did not take a break, then she would trip again. But she dated not to ask. In fact, the only thing that was keeping her going was the fear of what would happen once she fell.
They soon came to the next floor. Salynara summoned her death cloud. Soon more and more were dead. Then they came to the last room. To Salynara’s dismay, there was none there.
That was when Lasta laid eyes upon the most beautiful large orb that she had ever seen. As she looked closer, she noticed that it looked like the fairy orbs, just way bigger.
Bringing Snow
Lasta looked at the orb. Her mind became quiet. Her whole being was drawn to the orb. She moved like she was in a dream. Almost like the orb itself was calling to her. Telling her to come closer and closer to it. She did not notice anything else around her.
Meanwhile Salynara and Otb both walked beside her. Salynara reached out to the orb but before she could touch the orb electricity surrounded the orb and surrounded her. Immediately she was blasted back! She landed with a thud. She staggered to her feet.
She looked at Lasta, who had a blank look on her face. Her eyes were glazed over, like she was daydreaming. She reached out her hand like she was moving in a dream. She touched it. Her hand rested on the surface of the orb.
Soon Lasta saw that she was surrounded by a white void. She looked up to see a woman with skin that glowed bright yellow, almost white, like a lightbulb. She was clothed in gold. With a skirt that had snowflakes and raindrops stitched into it with silver. On her upper body she wore silver armour that looked like a modest corset. In the stomach area were lightning bolts around it like skinny bare trees in a forest. She had a cape of clouds with miniature bolts inside. She could hear the deafening sound of their thunder. Her hair was snow white with eyes the colour of rain with an unrivalled beauty.
“Hello.” She said, her voice was deep and thick with authority.
“Urm…” Lasta could only say.
She smiled
“It’s alright Lasta Coop, the cursed.”
“Oh.”
Lasta looked aside in shame. She suddenly felt both naked and dirty as her mind flicked over all of what Salynara told her to do.
“It is alright. What you did, you did out of ignorance, however you are still a cursed one.”
“What can I do?”
“Well, I am glad that you asked. For, you see, the tyrannical king has used my orb to keep me from carrying out my work on this planet.”
“What can I do to help?”
“Well, offer me a segment of your soul and spirit so that I can mix it with my own power. So that weather can be born here. This way, I can use these incarnations of the weather to do my work here and finally bring weather back on this planet.”
She nodded.
“What does that mean?”
“It means that we will bring into existence the incarnations of weather. People who will be born and reborn until my work is done.”
“But I'm too young to be a mum!”
She chuckled.
“As I can see. Which is why they will be born amongst the Weatherless.”
“I don’t understand. But if it helps ease my curse, go for it!”
She smiled. She placed a hand on her stomach. She felt something being taken from her. She felt slightly weaker than normal. She saw a group of lights in her hands. She then placed her hands under and over them. Then she saw light coming from the woman’s hand and into the lights and they left the orb.
“Is it done?”
“Yes.”
“By the way, who are you?”
“Tempastas Aer the angel of weather.”
“Wow! You’re beautiful!”
She smiled.
“So are you and if you think that I’m beautiful you should see my Creator. Also, once my work is done, the power of the weather will come to you.”
“What? You mean the weather incarnates won’t keep their powers?”
“Only if they do not want to keep them.”
She nodded. Her gut told her that this conversation was not over.
“So, is there anything else you want to tell me?”
“Yes. What Salynara wants to do is to get to fate and, as a being that can time travel, which is an ability that you have but it is controlled by fate, she thinks that the key to that is by being close to you.”
Lasta’s eyes widened.
“What? I can do that? And… and… it’s controlled by what?”
“You have the ability to time travel which is controlled by fate.”
Lasta looked down. Fear gripped her heart.
“Now. Which of the Weather Incarnates should be born?”
Lasta looked up. Her mind went to one thing. The one thing she remembered and was sure that she was remembering at all. She then thought about the memories of her being born on Christmas and she also thought about the snow that she would see. She also remembered the snow that she saw the snow of the North Pole.
“Snow.”
She let out a chuckle.
“So shall it be done.”
Then Lasta returned to where she was and she looked out of the window as snow started to fall.
“What have you done!”
The Fight
They looked back to see the Weatherless King, Nowet. He looked directly at Lasta Coop. His eyes contained nothing but a murderous rage. To a point that his veins became completely visible with his maddening fury. He rushed to her and wrapped his arm around her neck then picked the girl up. He hit her again and again.
“How dare you! How dare you! How dare you!” He said, over and over again as he hit her.
Otb raised his hands to stop him but Salynara raised her hands and he flew away from her. He looked at her.
Then Lasta hit the ground with tears in her eyes as her body twitched. Otb, enraged, went to run to him and hit him. Only, again, for Salynara to stop him. She waved her staff to the left. He saw the end of his arm move to hit her, but Lasta rolled into him.
She scrambled to her feet. She ran to the Weatherless King but he kicked. She ducked. As she drove her fist in between his legs, he drove his ankle into her head. She hit the ground hard.
She could see that her vision was becoming blurry. She then felt him stomp on her again and again. She rolled out of the way and rolled back when the foot hit the ground, flicked her foot out and hit his loins as he caught her ankle. He pulled her up again and went to hit her but she was able to drive her palm into his face. She was able to do it again and again and again. He finally let go which let her punch his gut and his loins again.
He staggered back. She was quickly able to get to her feet and hit him there again and again and again. He hit the floor. Lasta propelled herself onto him. She went onto hitting his face again and again and again. Then he hit her in the side.
Then a bolt of electricity struck in between them. Lasta looked to see Otb jump up and threw a rock at the Weatherless King before the lightning bolt struck it before it could even hit. Lasta looked at Salynara. This told her all that she needed to know.
She looked down and then back up. She ran at him. Then he took her by the throat again and took out a gun. She threw out a kick to his wrist. Yet this did nothing. Then he fired and it hit her shoulder.
She let out a cry of a scream as pain flared up. She screamed and screamed as all her mind could focus upon was nothing but the pain. She felt the tears fall. She cried and cried. She pressed against the wound.
“Ahh! Good, good girl!”
She looked down as she felt her body shaking as he fired another shot at her. She was blinded by more pain causing her to cry and cry. She felt another shot. Blinded by her tears and pain she was helpless to stop the next one.
“Stop! Stop! Please, stop it! I can’t take it anymore! I can’t take it anymore!”
He then pulled her close.
“If you want me to stop, beg for me to kill you!”
She looked at him with fear and despair. She felt another laser. She cried out again. She felt another shot. She cried out again.
Then her hands reached out and rested upon his gun. She pulled it out and fired at him. They dropped. Sobbing and filled with pain, she hit him again and again and again. Until her blood was covered in blood. Then Otb pulled her off and all that she could do was sob in his arms.
A Declaration Of Vengeance
“Father!” Shouted a young Weatherless.
Otb and Salynara looked to the left to see a Wetherless that could only be fourteen.
“What did you do to my father!”
“Well the girl killed him.”
“Hand her over to me. Hand that thing over to me now!”
“No. I have my plans for her.”
“Then will you hand it over to me after you are done?”
“Nah! I can hardly tell if there will be anything left to hand over!”
“What?”
Salynara looked down and smirked.
“No. Hand her over to me now!”
“No.”
“Fine! Then tell me where she lives so that I can enslave it.”
“Earth.”
“Then I will speak to that thing. Get her now!”
“No. She’s been through enough!”
“Get it over here now!”
“Girl. Look at him.”
Lasta looked at him. Her cheeks were wet and puffy.
“I do not know how long it will take, I will get to Earth! And when I do, I will enslave your people and hunt your family down and kill them all! Then I will find you and kill you!”
She looked down as her eyes closed.
“Listen child, it is time for us to leave. Get out of our way or you will be next.”
Otb huffed and picked up the girl.
“Take her.”
“Fine!”
He then picked up the corpse of the Weatherless King.
“What are you doing?”
He walked over to the nearest window and threw it out.
“What! Father!” He shouted as he ran to the window.
He looked down.
“If you’re lucky you might just reach him in time.”
He looked up at him and ran to the stairs and raced to his dead father.
“Now let’s go.” He said, taking the bags.
“Alright. Come along then. Although are you going to take this back?”
“No. You carry her. After all, it is the least that you can do for her after everything that you have put her through.”
She looked down and shrugged as she smirked. They soon left for the ship.
✴️
The Tooth Fairy landed in front of a man with his face concealed by a purple hood.
“Well, that girl shows promise.” He purred as he let out a lyrical laugh. “Yes… she does indeed.”
She let out a huff.
“What are you on about?”
“Ahh! Toothy! How’ve you been?” He asked with a smile.
“Fine. Tell me, what are you talking about?”
“Did you find any other of the Seelie Court?”
“No.” She admitted with dismay.
“My condolences!”
“Just tell me who you’re talking about?”
“That girl!” He purred, pointing to a girl in Salynara’s arms.
She looked at her and she looked at her with a chill of fear struck her. Yet there was something fermiliar about her bone structure. One that reminded her of some one. Someone who she knew. Yet she noticed that her skin, hair and eyes were the result of Salynara’s evil potions. Then she took a closer look and moment that she recognized who she was her eyes widened as she was struck with horror.
“That’s Lasta Coop! What is she doing with Salynara? I thought that she was dead! How is she even alive? What has she done to her? How does she even do all of this? Why is she even doing this?”
The man let out a huff.
“You hardly do your research, do you?”
“It’s dark magic, so why would I?”
“You should!” He sang.
“Why?”
“Then you would have known that she could have come back from the dead.”
Her eyes widened.
“What?!”
She looked back to Lasta.
“And why is she with them?”
“They are all wearing the three cuffs made by Dark Lady Grasharlo.”
“Can you get them off?”
“Fortunately, I do!” He sighed with a smile and the taste of nostalgia in his mouth.
“Then we need to get her away from them. After all, I don’t want her to become Salynara’s puppet. Just like the rest of them!”
He leaned back.
“Yes, we do. That fairy is getting in the way of that girl’s greatness and I can tell she has already started in destroying her innocence. Which is just not on.”
“Then let us get on with it!”
He springed up and spun to her.
“Alright. Then follow me.”
